The network has been established by the Scottish Government to complement the ‘Supporting a Mentally Healthy Workplace’ employer platform which signposts employers to a range of resources and guidance on how to promote and support mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.
Following a series of engagement sessions with employers after the platform was launched, involved employers told Government that it would be helpful to have a peer learning space, where employers can learn from each other and share experiences of how they are supporting the mental wellbeing of their employees.
The network meets quarterly and so far has over 300 members covering employers of all sizes, and across all sectors.
The next meeting will be held on 2 October 2023, and will be attended by the Minister for Social Care, Mental Wellbeing and Sport, Ms Maree Todd MSP, who will provide an update on the recently published Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy. This will be followed by a panel Q&A session during which Scottish Government are hoping to hear from some employers on their experiences of supporting mental health and wellbeing in the workplace. Scot Gov are looking to hear from a range of different perspectives, and particularly from employers who are early on in their journey to establishing mental health and wellbeing policies.
