Why Catalonia?
Catalonia, with its 7.7 million inhabitants, has the most competitive economy in Southern Europe. It accounts for 25% of the Spanish industry and has a GDP similar to that of Finland. Historically a trading nation, its strategic location in the Mediterranean and its transport infrastructures, as well as its entrepreneurial and business-friendly economy, have made it a top location in Europe. To add to that the capital city, Barcelona is an unbeatable meeting point for international business.
Scottish businesses have several opportunities in Catalonia’s key sectors, including:
- Food and drink
- Computer and IT services
- Transport logistics and equipment
- Financial services
- Green tech
- Creative industries
- Chemical sciences
