Chamber Insights with Dr Liz Cameron CBE

We were delighted to kick off our inaugural Chamber Insights session with Dr Liz Cameron CBE, Director & CEO of Scottish Chambers of Commerce, here in the Forth Valley.

This important event brought together a dynamic group of local business leaders to discuss the key challenges and opportunities shaping Scotland’s economic future. The session provided a valuable platform for open and constructive conversation, ensuring the voices of our members are heard at the highest levels.

A huge thank you to our participating Chamber members—Allen Associates, Booth Welsh, Borthwick & Forrest, Candied Ice Cream, Forsyth of Denny, FVF Ltd, John Mitchell Haulage and Warehousing, Kerry Menstrie, McGill’s Bus Group, and Syngenta—for contributing their insights and experiences to the discussion.

Discussions touched on critical areas including the Apprenticeship Levy, sustainability, skills shortages, and the disconnect between education and industry—highlighting shared concerns around the current climate for business growth in Scotland.

Dr Liz Cameron reflected on the importance of this new approach:

“The time is now for a different model of engagement. Our plan is to present business priority areas—clearly communicating what’s needed for us to be sustainable, grow, and invest.”

These conversations are a vital step toward ensuring Scottish policy truly reflects the needs and ambitions of the business community. We are proud to be working with SCC to amplify the voice of Forth Valley businesses and look forward to hosting future sessions in this impactful series.
