Calling All Local Businesses: Got a Project? We’ve Got Bright Minds!

At the University of Stirling, we’re proud to be growing the next generation of business leaders, innovators, and sharp thinkers. We don’t want our undergraduate business students to just study theory, we want them applying it to business challenges to explore real-world problems. And that’s where you come in.

We’re currently seeking 12-week research project opportunities from local businesses for our students to tackle as part of their final year dissertations under expert academic supervision. Whether you’re running a start-up, scaling up a family firm, or managing a well-established organisation, we’d love to hear from you.

What kind of projects? 
Our 4th year Business Studies undergraduate students are equipped to handle complex problems, communicate across various stakeholders, and develop actionable recommendations. These are research projects so it must involve aspects of research, and the projects will develop insights, findings and recommendations.

Our students have studied a varied business studies programme with topics including organisations, management, global and international business, sustainable business, entrepreneurship and strategic management so many ways we can work with organisations across sectors.

So, if you’ve got a business challenge that’s been sitting on the ‘when-we-have-time’ list, this might be the perfect opportunity to move it forward with some fresh perspectives.

How does it work? 
Closing date for proposals is 31st August 2025 after which these will be reviewed and allocated to students with a formal project brief developed and agreed. The projects will be undertaken January-April 2026 and are supervised by academic staff to ensure quality and learning outcomes.
