The Saturday Social with Nicola Meighan launches Saturday 13 June, 2pm-5pm

Central FM is delighted to announce the launch of a brand new weekend programme, The Saturday Social with Nicola Meighan, bringing a fresh mix of music, entertainment and special guests to Saturday afternoons across the Forth Valley.

Launching on Saturday 13 June from 2pm to 5pm, the new show will be hosted by acclaimed Scottish arts writer, broadcaster and presenter Nicola Meighan. Broadcasting live from Central FM’s Bridge of Allan studios, the programme will feature an eclectic soundtrack of hand-picked classics, forgotten gems, indie favourites, disco, soul, dance anthems and Scottish hits, alongside conversations with guests from the worlds of music, television, theatre, comedy, literature and film.

A familiar voice to audiences across Scotland, Nicola has spent more than a decade presenting music and arts programming on BBC Radio Scotland. Throughout her career she has worked with STV, The Herald and Mute Records, touring with internationally renowned artists including Moby, Erasure, Depeche Mode and Nick Cave. She is also the host of the popular Scottish culture podcast A Kick Up The Arts and regularly presents major cultural events including Stirling Pride and the Scottish Album of the Year Awards.

Nicola, who grew up in Stirling and now lives in Bridge of Allan, said:

“Earlier this year, I heard that a radio studio had opened a five-minute walk from my house, and that it was the new headquarters for Central FM, which all sounded too good to be true. But they’ve opened their doors, and their microphones, to me recently, and I’m delighted to have been offered a weekend show on my local station, with the freedom to play the music I love and the chance to chat with some really special guests from the worlds of music, TV, theatre, books, comedy and film, who’ll be keeping me company in our Bridge of Allan studio. I’d love it if you joined us too.”

The debut edition of The Saturday Social will feature Scottish music legend Gary Clark of Danny Wilson, best known for the hit Mary’s Prayer. Gary joins Nicola in the studio fresh from providing music for the new Nick Jonas and Paul Rudd film Power Ballad, currently showing in cinemas.

Listeners can tune in to The Saturday Social with Nicola Meighan every Saturday from 2pm to 5pm on Central FM across FM and DAB throughout the Forth Valley, as well as via smart speakers, the Central FM app and online.
