Forth Valley Sensory Centre are commemorating their 20th anniversary by lighting up The National Wallace Monument in their recognisable colours.
The charity, based in Camelon, support people across Forth Valley living with sensory loss and are encouraging people in the area to get involved and take and share photos on the evening of the 8th of October as they ‘Light Up Wallace’.
On the evening of the light up, volunteers, partners, centre users and staff will be attending a commemorative event at the Stirling Court Hotel, which has a view of the monument, to celebrate twenty years of support in the area.
The team are encouraging people across Clackmannanshire to get involved and tag The Centre on social media with photos of the monument lit up in their colours – purple and blue (cyan), to help raise awareness of The Centre and the support available for people with sight and / or hearing loss.
Sandy Gillone, CEO of Forth Valley Sensory Centre said: “We are excited to celebrate our 20th anniversary with many of the Centre Users, partners, supporters, volunteers and staff who have contributed to our success over the years. It’ll be a fantastic opportunity to take a look back at what we’ve achieved together, and Stirling Court Hotel will be a wonderful vantage point from which to view the Wallace Monument being lit up in our colours. We hope that this night of reflection and thanks will also act as a catalyst for many more years of success in the future.”
The light up event and reception has been sponsored by Lanarkshire based commercial electrical firm, GDM Services (Scotland) Ltd and Charlene Knox Hair, located in Stirling.
Gordon Mathieson, Director of GDM Services (Scotland) Ltd, said: “We are delighted to be able to co-sponsor this event for Forth Valley Sensory Centre in its 20th year. The support they provide to people living with sensory loss across the area is invaluable. The team work hard to ensure that Centre Users have a welcoming space to find community and support when they need it. Here’s to the next 20 years!”
Forth Valley Sensory Centre are celebrating in a range of ways throughout 2026 and are thankful to everyone who has supported them this year, and throughout their time in operation.
