Naturally Gluten free, rich in dietary fibre and drought tolerant, Sorghum offers a real alternative to Oat, Almond or Soy milk and is packed with a wide range of essential minerals, vitamins and anti-oxidants that support the normal function of the body. Niselo will launch from our base in Falkirk during summer of 2023 in five exciting flavours – Original Vanilla, Toffee, Salt Caramel, Chocolate and Chocolate-Orange each flavour perfectly complementing Niselo “Yoghurt like” sharpness (similar to Kefir).
Niselo contains carefully selected and precisely cultured probiotic bacteria (lactobacillus spp.) that convert sugars present to lactic acid giving our Niselo drinks a characteristically “sharp and yoghurt like” fresh taste. These same cultures support “Gut Health” and there is an increasing body of (scientific) evidence that the diverse flora and fauna within our microbiome strongly influence human health and general wellbeing (immune system, digestion etc.)
Our Story – South Africa to the World (via Forth Valley…) – With financial support from the SANBio BIOFISA research programme, Niselo was developed by Tshwane University of Technology (Pretoria, S Africa) during 2017 to address malnutrition in children and the elderly in South Africa and subsequently commercialised by their spinout, Nutrigo SA Pty. A joint venture with Nutrigo, BiaGo was set up in 2022 to bring Niselo drinks to the Northern Hemisphere following the award of a Scottish Government Inward Investment Catalyst Fund project with Abertay University (Dundee).
